Lead Routing Logic

Lead routing logic is the underlying rule structure that powers routing: the conditions evaluated, their priority order, the operators used, and the fallback behavior when nothing matches.

Two tools can both 'route leads' while differing sharply in logic capability, one offering simple if-then rules, the other supporting weighted scoring, time-based conditions, and nested branches.

Logic complexity determines how much of your real-world routing you can actually automate.

A practical example

Example: a logic design routes by score first, then territory, then language, with a time-based branch that sends after-hours leads to a global follow-up queue.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Ask whether the logic builder supports nested conditions and priority ordering, or only flat rule lists.
  • Check if you can simulate routing decisions against historical leads before activating rules.
  • Confirm there is a visible audit trail showing which rule fired for each lead.

Limitations and tradeoffs

This is a practical label for the rule layer, not a universal standard term; vendors may describe the same capability as rules, workflows, or playbooks.
