Revenue Inspection

Revenue Inspection is the recurring cross-functional review that asks whether the whole revenue motion is on track — marketing contribution, pipeline creation, conversion, retention — not just the sales forecast.

It differs from pipeline inspection (sales only) and revenue governance (who owns the rules); this is the forum itself: which metrics from each function appear, at what cadence, and what decisions it can trigger.

A practical example

Example: a monthly session reviews sourced pipeline by campaign, stage conversion against plan, and churn-risk accounts, ending with two decisions: reallocate budget and open a save play on three accounts.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Can the reporting layer pull marketing, CRM, and retention data into one view without manual stitching?
  • Does each metric support drill-down to the campaign, deal, or account behind it during the meeting?
  • Can decisions and owners be logged in the tool so the next session starts from them?

Limitations and tradeoffs

A cross-functional review only works if each function trusts the others' numbers; expect upfront work reconciling definitions like lead, MQL, and sourced pipeline before the forum produces decisions.
