Prompt Templates

A prompt template is a reusable prompt with fixed instructions and variable slots, such as {{company_name}} or {{pain_point}}, that get filled at runtime.

Teams store templates in a shared library so different campaigns and agents produce output in a consistent voice and format instead of relying on ad hoc prompts.

A practical example

Example: a sales team keeps one template for follow-up emails with slots for the prospect's industry and last touchpoint, so every rep's AI drafts follow the same structure and tone rules.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Ask how variables are validated: what happens when a slot is empty or contains unexpected characters.
  • Check whether the library supports permissions, so only approved owners can edit templates other agents depend on.
  • Confirm templates can be previewed with sample data before being applied to live campaigns.

Limitations and tradeoffs

Templates enforce consistency but can make output feel generic if variable slots are too few or too shallow.
