Run History

Run history is the aggregate record of every past execution of an automation over time: its inputs, outcomes, and errors.

Unlike an execution trace, which debugs one record's journey, run history lets you spot trends and reconstruct incidents — for instance, finding the exact date a workflow silently started failing across all records.

A practical example

Example: renewal-trigger emails stop firing; run history shows zero executions since a specific Tuesday, narrowing the incident to a change deployed that morning.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Ask how far back executions are retained on your plan and what extra retention costs.
  • Verify you can filter and aggregate runs by status, date, and workflow, not just view them one by one.
  • Check whether error details are retained at the same depth as successful runs.

Limitations and tradeoffs

Deep retention consumes storage and some vendors truncate error payloads first, so the history you need for incident reconstruction may not survive as long as the headline retention figure suggests.
