Webhook Endpoint

A webhook endpoint is a URL exposed by a platform that other systems call to push events in real time, such as a form submission or a deal stage change.

Endpoints are the receiving half of webhooks, the counterpart to outbound requests your platform sends.

Buyer-relevant questions include whether endpoints are unique per integration, whether payloads can be filtered or transformed on arrival, and what happens when your platform is briefly unavailable.

A practical example

Example: your support desk sends a webhook to your automation platform whenever a ticket is escalated.

The endpoint receives the event, matches the customer by email, and triggers an internal notification workflow within seconds of the escalation.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Ask whether each integration gets a unique endpoint URL or shares a common one.
  • Confirm whether the platform retries failed deliveries and for how long.
  • Check whether you can inspect recent payloads received at the endpoint for debugging.

Limitations and tradeoffs

Webhook endpoints are internet-facing, which makes them a potential entry point for spoofed or malformed requests; without signature verification and payload validation, an exposed endpoint is a security liability.
