Demand Capture Conversion Signal

A demand capture conversion signal is the agreed evidence that qualifies a capture interaction as a real conversion rather than spam, a test, or a duplicate.

Lead capture covers the mechanism; this defines the post-conversion validity standard: spam filtering, deduplication rules, and test-data exclusion.

Without it, inflated capture counts corrupt attribution and budget decisions because bots, internal QA submissions, and repeat entries all look identical to genuine demand.

A practical example

Your team defines a valid conversion as a submission that passes a bot-detection check, matches no existing open record by email and company domain, and excludes a list of internal test addresses.

A competitor filling out a pricing form three times counts once, after deduplication.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Ask vendors which bot defenses they apply at submission and whether they log filter decisions for audit.
  • Test whether deduplication runs at capture time or only later in the CRM, and on which fields.
  • Confirm test and internal submissions can be tagged and excluded from reporting without deletion.

Limitations and tradeoffs

Aggressive filtering can discard real demand; review false-positive rates periodically, especially for audiences with unusual domains or shared email providers.
