Account Sync Rule

An Account Sync Rule specifies, for account records only, which fields move between CRM and marketing automation, in which direction, on what trigger, and what happens on conflict.

Typical fields include owner, tier, industry, and status. Direction matters: owner usually flows CRM-to-MAP, while engagement attributes may flow the other way. Trigger options include real-time on change, scheduled batches, or manual runs.

A practical example

Example: a rule syncs account tier from CRM to MAP nightly, but engagement score from MAP to CRM only when it crosses a threshold, reducing write volume.

Without a conflict rule, a same-day edit in both systems silently overwrites one value.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Can you exclude specific account fields from sync, per field rather than per object?
  • Does the tool show a sync log with before-and-after values for conflicts?
  • Can triggers be per-field, or only per-object on any change?

Limitations and tradeoffs

Field-level sync configuration varies widely between connectors; verify the exact connector for your CRM version, since generic sync claims often hide per-field limits.
