Contact Follow Up SLA

A Contact Follow Up SLA is a response commitment tied to a specific contact's action: a reply to an email, a form submission, or an engagement spike.

It sits between lead-level response targets, which cover new inbound leads, and account-level follow-up commitments, which cover whole-account plays.

The gap it fills: a high-value action by one person inside an existing account can otherwise fall through, because no new lead was created and no account play triggered.

The SLA defines who responds, within what time, and through which channel.

A practical example

Example: a contact at an existing customer replies to a renewal email asking about an upgrade. The SLA requires the assigned rep to respond within four business hours, with escalation to the manager at eight.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Ask whether the platform can start SLA timers from contact-level actions, not just lead creation.
  • Verify escalation and breach notifications are configurable per action type and priority.
  • Check whether SLA compliance is reportable per rep and per action type.

Limitations and tradeoffs

Contact-level SLAs multiply tracked timers quickly; without prioritization rules, low-value actions can consume the same escalation attention as deal-critical ones.
