CRM Integration

CRM integration is the technical connection between a CRM and other systems—email, marketing automation, support desks, billing, data warehouses—so records and events flow between them without manual re-entry.

Integrations vary widely: native connectors, middleware platforms, APIs, and webhook-based event sync.

The key distinction is one-way data push versus bidirectional sync with conflict handling, because two systems writing to the same field can overwrite each other.

A practical example

Example: a support desk integration pushes ticket counts into each CRM account, so account managers see open issues during renewal conversations without switching tools.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Is the connector native and maintained by the vendor, or does it depend on a third-party middleware with its own pricing and limits?
  • Does sync run in near real time via webhooks, or on scheduled batches, and what happens to records created during a sync failure?
  • Can you map custom fields and control which system is the source of truth for each field to avoid overwrite conflicts?

Limitations and tradeoffs

A listed integration on a marketplace page does not guarantee depth; many connectors sync only standard objects and break when custom fields or workflows change.
