Lead Enrichment

Lead enrichment is the automated appending of third-party data to a lead record, typically firmographics (company size, industry, revenue), contact details, and technographic signals such as the tools a company already uses.

The goal is to give reps enough context to qualify and personalize without manual research. Enrichment quality depends on the underlying data providers, not just the automation layer.

A practical example

Example: a form fill with only an email address is expanded with company headcount, industry, and detected tech stack fields before it enters the routing queue.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Ask which data providers the tool uses and whether you can choose or combine sources.
  • Test match rates on a sample of your real leads, including your region and market segment.
  • Check how conflicts are handled when enriched data contradicts fields your reps already filled.

Limitations and tradeoffs

Enrichment data ages quickly; records enriched at intake may be outdated by the time a long sales cycle starts.
