Connector Latency

Connector latency measures how quickly one specific connector moves a change into the target system, from the moment the source records the change to when it appears at the destination.

It is measured per connector, not across a whole multi-step integration path.

A practical example

Example: a team times how long a new form submission takes to appear in the CRM via each vendor's connector, distinguishing near-real-time sync from hourly batch runs.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Ask each vendor how latency is measured and whether figures cover peak load, not just averages.
  • Test the connector yourself with a timed record change from source to destination.
  • Check whether latency changes with volume, batch sizes, or API rate limits.

Limitations and tradeoffs

Low connector latency does not guarantee a fast end-to-end workflow, since queues, transformations, and downstream steps can add delay beyond the connector itself.
