Integration Latency

Integration Latency is the time a record takes to travel across one specific integration hop, for example from a form tool to a marketing platform.

It is narrower than end-to-end data latency, which covers the whole pipeline. Per-hop timing matters when sales alerts or triggered emails must fire within minutes of an event.

A practical example

Label: hypothetical. A webinar platform pushes registrations to a marketing platform every fifteen minutes. A follow-up email triggered 'immediately' actually fires up to fifteen minutes late, which the team only notices when comparing timestamps.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Does the vendor document whether syncs are real-time, batched, or scheduled?
  • Can you measure per-hop delay with timestamps at both ends of the hop?
  • Do time-sensitive triggers have a stated maximum acceptable delay?

Limitations and tradeoffs

Low latency often costs more in API usage or infrastructure; chasing near-real-time everywhere is rarely justified.
