Integration Dependency

An Integration Dependency maps how one connected system relies on another. If a CRM field stops syncing, every workflow that reads it is affected.

Unlike broad infrastructure dependency mapping, this focuses on reliance relationships between marketing and sales systems, so a change upstream can be traced to its downstream victims.

A practical example

Label: hypothetical. A team discovers their lead-scoring model depends on a nightly CRM field sync.

When that sync is paused during a CRM migration, scores go stale and the nurture segment stops updating, without any visible error.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Can you list every workflow that consumes data from each integration?
  • Is there a notification path when an upstream sync is paused or changed?
  • Do you test dependent workflows after any field or object change upstream?

Limitations and tradeoffs

Dependency maps decay quickly; they need an owner and a review cadence, or they describe a system that no longer exists.
