Content Distribution

Content distribution is the planning and execution of getting published assets in front of their intended audience across owned channels (site, email, blog), earned channels (shares, mentions, syndication), and paid channels (sponsored posts, retargeting).

It covers timing, channel mix, and audience targeting, and is broader than syndication, which is only one earned-channel tactic.

A practical example

Example: for a new industry guide, a team schedules a launch email to subscribers, a founder LinkedIn post, outreach to five newsletter curators, and a two-week paid promotion to a matched audience list.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Can the platform orchestrate multi-channel distribution from one calendar instead of per-tool scheduling?
  • Does it attribute traffic and conversions back to specific distribution channels and placements?
  • Can you build audience segments from your CRM so distribution targets match buyer stages?

Limitations and tradeoffs

Distribution amplifies whatever the asset already earns; pushing weak content across more channels usually raises spend without raising engagement, so validate resonance on one channel before scaling.
