CTA Offer Map

A CTA offer map is the binding layer between commercial offers and the CTAs that promote them.

Each entry records the offer identifier, its expiry date, and the designated successor offer that replaces it on retirement.

This prevents CTAs from promoting retired or unfulfillable assets, a common source of leads that sales cannot act on.

It differs from value proposition maps, which govern claim language; the offer map governs the actual commercial asset behind the click.

A practical example

Example: a spring promotion CTA entry lists the promo code, its end date, and the evergreen discount that automatically takes its place, so no manual swap is needed at expiry.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Confirm every live CTA links to exactly one offer entry with a current expiry date or an explicit no-expiry flag.
  • Check that successor offers are defined before an offer retires, not after leads start arriving for it.
  • Verify the map is reconciled against the actual CTA destinations, since copied CTAs often escape the registry.

Limitations and tradeoffs

The map only works if offer owners update it when terms change; a stale registry is riskier than none because it creates false confidence that every CTA is covered.
