Dynamic Content

Dynamic content is a single asset whose blocks change per viewer based on rules or data, such as industry, lifecycle stage, or past behavior.

Unlike separate campaigns per segment, one template carries multiple variants, and the system selects which block each recipient sees at open or load time.

A practical example

Example: a software vendor sends one product newsletter where the hero block shows retail features for retail contacts and logistics features for logistics contacts, while the rest of the email stays identical for everyone.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Confirm whether variants are set per block, per section, or per whole asset, and how many variants a single email or page supports.
  • Ask how fallback content is handled when no rule matches a contact, and whether fallback rendering can be previewed.
  • Test preview and rendering tools: can you simulate multiple contact profiles side by side before sending?

Limitations and tradeoffs

Dynamic content multiplies QA surface: every added variant is another combination that can break links, styling, or logic, so teams need a review process per variant, not just per campaign.
