Form Acceptance Criteria

Form acceptance criteria are the explicit conditions a form submission must meet to be processed, such as a valid business email domain, required field completeness, consent checkbox state, or exclusion of free-mail and competitor addresses.

Submissions failing the criteria can be rejected, flagged for review, or accepted with reduced handling.

A practical example

Example: a form accepts only submissions with a work email domain, a company name and a checked consent box; Gmail addresses are accepted but routed to a nurture track instead of sales.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Confirm whether validation happens client-side, server-side, or both, and whether rejected users see a helpful message.
  • Check that you can maintain domain blocklists and allowlists without developer involvement.
  • Test how the criteria treat edge cases such as new domains, role-based addresses, or missing consent.

Limitations and tradeoffs

Strict criteria reduce junk but also reject legitimate prospects; every added rule trades lead volume for data quality, so review rejection rates regularly.
