Offer Freshness Rule

An Offer Freshness Rule is the staleness policy for commercial offers: how long an offer may stay promoted before its content, claims, and fulfillment path require re-review.

It defines expiry triggers—dates, data-vintage limits, product-change events—a review cadence, and retirement checks. Where content refresh policies update articles for SEO, this rule governs offers wherever they appear: landing pages, email evergreen flows, partner sites.

It exists because outdated offers keep collecting leads for claims the company no longer makes.

A practical example

Example: a rule requires every offer tied to pricing data to be re-verified quarterly; a 2023 pricing benchmark still running in an evergreen email flow is flagged and pulled.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Does each offer carry a review date visible to its owner, not buried in a spreadsheet?
  • Do product or pricing changes automatically trigger re-review of affected offers?
  • Is there a retirement step that removes the offer from every promoting surface at once?

Limitations and tradeoffs

Tradeoff: frequent re-review costs owner time, so cadence is usually tiered—tight for data-dependent offers, looser for evergreen templates.
