Trigger-Based Campaign

A trigger-based campaign launches automatically when a defined event occurs, such as a form submission, cart abandonment, pricing-page visit or stage change in your CRM.

Unlike scheduled drips, timing is dictated by the recipient's action, which makes these campaigns highly relevant but dependent on the platform's ability to detect events quickly and reliably across integrated systems.

A practical example

Example: a prospect views your pricing page twice in one day. That evening they receive a short email addressing common buying objections, while a task is queued for their account owner the next morning.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Ask what event latency the vendor supports, meaning how quickly a trigger fires after the action occurs
  • Verify which data sources can serve as triggers: web behavior, CRM changes, product usage or custom API events
  • Check whether you can build suppression and frequency rules into triggered flows to avoid over-messaging

Limitations and tradeoffs

Triggered campaigns depend on clean event data; misconfigured or duplicated triggers can send contradictory messages and erode trust.
