Integration Observability

Integration observability is the ability to see what is happening inside your integrations: which syncs ran, what data moved, where records failed, and why.

It spans the whole journey from trigger to destination, not just whether an endpoint answered.

A practical example

Example: a nightly lead sync drops 400 records. With observability, you open a trace, see the payload that failed, and spot a field-length rejection in minutes. Without it, you only know that counts look wrong.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Ask vendors to show a real failure trace: can you view the payload, error and affected records for one failed sync?
  • Check whether sync history is searchable by record, date and error type, not just a green or red status line.
  • Test how quickly support or your team can answer why a specific record did not arrive, using the product alone.

Limitations and tradeoffs

Observability depth varies widely; some platforms expose only aggregate success rates, which hides the record-level detail you need during an incident.
