Demand Capture Suppression

Demand capture suppression defines who must be excluded from seeing or converting on each capture asset, and by what rule.

Audience suppression logic covers campaign-level exclusions broadly; this governs capture-surface eligibility per asset type: existing customers, active opportunities, competitors, or employees.

Conversions from ineligible audiences create bad records and wasted follow-up, so a written suppression policy makes exclusion rules reviewable and enforceable at the form, chat, or landing tool level.

A practical example

A trade-show demo request form suppresses anyone with an active opportunity, routing those submissions to the account's existing owner instead of creating a duplicate lead.

The rule checks email domain and CRM account match before the record is created.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Ask whether the capture tool can query the CRM in real time to apply eligibility rules before record creation.
  • Test what happens when suppression matches: is the submission blocked, rerouted, or merged?
  • Confirm suppression rules are documented per asset and auditable after changes.

Limitations and tradeoffs

Real-time eligibility checks add latency and depend on CRM data quality; stale account records will wrongly suppress or admit visitors.
