Email Deliverability

Email deliverability is the ability of your messages to land in recipients' primary inboxes rather than spam or promotions folders.

It depends on authentication protocols (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), sender reputation, engagement signals like opens and replies, and how your platform handles sending infrastructure. Two tools with identical features can produce very different inbox placement.

A practical example

Example: a B2B team sends the same webinar invitation through two platforms. On one, 40% of messages route to spam for Microsoft 365 recipients; on the other, placement is healthy.

Same content, same list, different infrastructure and reputation handling.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Ask vendors how they handle dedicated versus shared sending IPs and what isolation exists between tenants
  • Verify support for SPF, DKIM and DMARC setup, including guided configuration and monitoring alerts
  • Request evidence of inbox placement testing or reporting, and how bounce and complaint data feed back into sending behavior

Limitations and tradeoffs

Deliverability is shared responsibility: platform infrastructure helps, but list quality, content and sending frequency from your side carry major weight.
