Email Performance

Email Performance is the broader reporting view of an email program: it combines delivery metrics (delivery rate, bounce rate, spam complaints), engagement metrics (opens, clicks, CTOR), and outcome metrics (conversions, revenue, pipeline influenced).

Where Email Engagement describes recipient behavior, Email Performance describes how the whole program is doing, including technical health.

A program can show strong engagement on a shrinking delivered base, which is why deliverability belongs in the same report.

For automation buyers, the evaluation point is whether the platform can join these layers: per-campaign engagement, list-level deliverability trends, and downstream conversion data in one place, rather than forcing exports into spreadsheets.

A practical example

Example: a monthly report shows a 98% delivery rate, a rising complaint rate on one segment, and flat conversions; the team pauses that segment's cadence and reviews its content before the next send.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Check whether the platform reports deliverability indicators like bounce reasons and complaint rates per campaign.
  • Verify performance data can be joined with conversion or CRM outcomes without manual exports.
  • Confirm you can compare automated sequences and one-off campaigns on the same metrics.

Limitations and tradeoffs

Email Performance reports describe what happened within the tracked window; they cannot attribute revenue causally, and deliverability data depends partly on mailbox providers' opaque signals.
