Landing Page Click Path

A landing page click path is the on-page journey from arrival to conversion: which elements a visitor interacts with, where scrolling stalls, when form entry starts, and where partial abandonment happens.

Conversion path analysis covers the full journey across channels and sessions; this focuses on the single page. Standard funnel reports show arrived versus converted, hiding everything between.

On-page path data comes from scroll tracking, form field analytics, and session tools, and it surfaces fixable friction such as fields that trigger exit.

A practical example

Label: path data on a webinar registration page shows most visitors reach the form, fill two fields, and leave at the phone number field.

Removing that field from the required set is a targeted fix the funnel report alone would never suggest.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Ask whether your analytics setup captures field-level form abandonment, not just page-level conversion counts.
  • Confirm scroll and interaction tracking works on pages with embedded forms, where iframes often hide on-page events.
  • Check whether partial form entries can be recovered or retargeted, or whether that data is discarded.

Limitations and tradeoffs

On-page tracking adds script weight and raises privacy considerations; field-level tracking in particular may require consent handling and can feel invasive if not disclosed.
