Audience Suppression Logic

Audience Suppression Logic is the set of decision rules that dynamically excludes people from campaigns, going beyond a static suppression list.

Typical rules exclude recent converters (bought in the last 30 days), contacts tied to active opportunities, churn-risk customers who need a different message, and contacts who hit a frequency cap.

A static list names specific people; the logic generates exclusions continuously as statuses change, and it must apply consistently across email and paid channels.

A practical example

Example: a prospect submits a demo request, becomes an active opportunity in the CRM, and is automatically removed from the retargeting audience that same week without anyone editing a list.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Does the platform sync suppression rules with your CRM opportunity status in near real time?
  • Can one rule set apply across both ad audiences and email sends, or do channels need separate maintenance?
  • Does it support time-boxed exclusions, such as suppressing for 30 days post-conversion, that expire automatically?

Limitations and tradeoffs

Over-broad rules can suppress genuinely new buying centers inside an existing customer, so review rule scope periodically rather than letting exclusions accumulate unchecked.
