Account Signal Owner

An Account Signal Owner is the person or team accountable for acting on each category of account signal.

The practice is building an ownership matrix: rows are signal types such as third-party intent spikes, website visit surges, champion job changes, or usage-drop risk flags; columns name the accountable team and the expected action.

Delivery mechanisms can route signals anywhere, but routing without a named owner means the signal is read by everyone and actioned by no one.

A practical example

Example: a matrix assigns intent-spike signals to the SDR pod covering the territory, champion-change signals to the AE, and usage-decline signals to CS — each with a stated response window.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Can signals be assigned to users or queues inside the tool, with reassignment?
  • Does the platform report signal response time per owner?
  • Can unowned or unassigned signals be flagged automatically?

Limitations and tradeoffs

Accountability is an operating agreement, not a feature; a vendor can route and assign signals, but only your org chart and SLAs make ownership real.
