Account Signal Workflow Trigger

An Account Signal Workflow Trigger is the specific condition set that automatically launches a multi-step account play: a score threshold, a combination of signals, a time-decay window, and dedup rules that prevent repeated firing.

It is the automation handoff between signal detection and play execution — distinct from routing rules, which only decide who is notified.

The design decisions are quantitative: how high must the score climb, how many signals must coincide, and how long before the trigger resets?

A practical example

Example: a play fires when an account's intent score exceeds 80 for two consecutive weeks and an open opportunity exists, with a 30-day cooldown so the same account cannot retrigger while the play is already running.

What to evaluate before investing

  • Ask vendors whether trigger conditions support signal combinations and time windows, or only single thresholds.
  • Verify you can set a cooldown or dedup window per play to prevent repeat firing on the same account.
  • Confirm whether trigger history is logged so you can audit why a play launched on a given date.

Limitations and tradeoffs

Aggressive thresholds generate noise and rep fatigue; conservative ones miss windows — expect to tune trigger settings iteratively rather than get them right at launch.
